I…ENTRY RULES: (a) All contestants must be students on the day that their entry form is submitted. You may have already graduated at the time of your photo shoot. (b) All entry forms must be completed in full. Be careful to correctly list your school’s address, as this is where your competition mannequin will be sent. You are responsible for verifying if this is OK with your school. (c) Contestants may register online or by mail. Contestants will be notified upon receipt of registration form and payment. (d) Payment must be made in full at the time you register. This can be done online by credit card or in the mail by check, money order or with complete written credit card information enclosed. (e) Each competitor will receive a contestant number by mail to your school address. This number MUST appear in your photos of your competition mannequin. (f) All competition mannequins will be shipped to your school address on or about January 10, 2011. It is your responsibility to notify Junior Style Stars if your mannequin is not received by January 18, 2011. (g) A copy of the rules and regulations will be shipped with your competition number and mannequin or possibly in a separate packet. They may also be accessed and printed from our website. (h) Additional practice mannequins are optional and if ordered can be shipped to your address of choice. (i) Each competitor will receive a photography certificate from J.C. Penney Portrait Studio. This will be mailed either with your mannequin or in a separate package. SAVE THIS CERTIFICATE...YOU WILL NEED TO BRING IT TO YOUR PHOTO APPOINTMENT. (j) A competitor can enter more than one mannequin but a separate entry form and payment must be made for each entry. (k) Copies or reproductions of our entry forms will be accepted. (l) Entry form information will be shared only with competition sponsors, professional manufacturers, distributors, media and others for use in promotional purposes. (m) There will be absolutely no refunds for any reason. (n) Prizes are not transferable. (o) Practice mannequins can be ordered prior to January 10, 2011. You must be registered in the competition in order to purchase practice mannequins at the discount rate.
II…COMPETITION RULES: (a) All entries will be judged on a “bridal theme”. (b) Hair can be done up or left down. (c) Hair can be cut or left long. (d) Hair must have some form of color (ie. Tint, highlights, etc). (e) Hair pieces, extensions, etc. are not acceptable. (f) Ornaments and accessories (clips, earrings, necklaces, scarves, etc.) are acceptable, however, be sure the actual hair style can be clearly seen. (g) Each mannequin will have an identification number. This number must be clearly seen in the entry photo. (h) Makeup is suggested. (i) All styling, color, makeup, etc. must be performed by the competitor only! ***All work done on the mannequin by the student must be done at the school in front of the instructor in charge.The mannequin is NOT
allowed to leave the school until it is taken for photography. (j) The winner may be required to reproduce their mannequin in person for the judges. (k) Winners must certify that they completed all their work on their own and that no one else worked on their mannequin.
(l) Score sheets will not be available. (m) The judges’ decisions are final. (n) The top 10 finalists and GRAND PRIZE WINNER will be announced end of April 2011.
III…JUDGING RULES: (a) Judges will only know competitors by their assigned numbers as seen on the mannequin in submitted photographs. (b) Each judge will randomly receive a selection of photographs. They will then each select the top 10 entries that they receive. These photos will then be resent randomly to the judging group until we have only the top 10 entries from the total entry pool. (c) The top 10 entries will be voted on by all of the judges and the winner will then be selected. (d) Judges are to make sure that each entry has stayed with the bridal theme. (e) Entries are to be judged on the total look. There are no separate points for color or makeup, but rather, how the whole look comes together.(i.e. Is it within the theme?, Is it balanced?, Does the hairstyle go with the makeup and accessories? Would a real bride feel comfortable actually wearing this look as she goes down the aisle?). (f) Judges’ decisions are final. (g) Judges will remain anonymous until after the Grand Prize
has been announced.
IV…PHOTOGRAPHY RULES: (a) All photographs must be done at a J.C. Penney photo studio. (see store locater on webpage or phone for list). (b) All photographs must be done by appointment. Reserve your appointment time early. There will be no late entries. (c) Photography appointments are only available between January 24, 2011 and February 10, 2011 and only on Monday through Thursday from the hours of 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. (d) It is your responsibility to show up on time with your certificate, finished mannequin and anything else you might require. (e) All photos are to be shot on either black or white backgrounds. (f) All mannequins will be photographed exactly the same, with 1 front, 1 back and 2 side views. (g) All entries will be submitted for judging by J.C. Penney’s portrait studios. (h) All mannequins must have their identification number visible in the photo. (i) Submitted photos are sent via e-mail and cannot be returned or forwarded, except to the judging group. (j) Additional photos may be ordered directly through J.C. Penney portrait studios at the time of your sitting.
Junior Style Stars is NOT responsible for lost or damaged mannequins unless reported by January 18, 2011. Once submitted for judging, all work becomes the exclusive property of Junior Style Stars and all competitors give up any rights to the competition photos and/or anything else that may concern the aforementioned competition. All relevant taxes and fees are the sole responsibility of the prize winner. Enrollment, competition, judging and announcement dates are subject to change. Prizes may be substituted for other prizes with equal or greater value. Contestants are advised to visit our website www.juniorstylestars.com often for any date changes or sponsor additions.
ANY DEVIATION FROM THESE WRITTEN RULES AND REGULATIONS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION!!
Junior Style Stars is for the enhancement of careers in the cosmetology field through providing the platform for the future hairstylist to develop their artistic skills. Unlike other competitions, Junior Style Stars allows all students, regardless of location, to compete on a completely level playing field, void of all the usual politics.
Each competitor competes on the identical mannequin and receives the same photography. All work must be done at the competitor’s beauty school under strict instructor supervision. Judging is done via the Internet. There are safeguards in place to insure total honesty.
